Two engines. ORDINALS builds number from the empty set by a single rule (0 = the empty set; the successor includes what already is); substance stays zero while structure doubles each step. FIELD seeds a featureless zero-field with one net-zero distinction and evolves it by a conservative wave rule; visible structure spreads while the sum stays exactly zero.
The computation is exact and reproducible. The reading it invites — that the world of many things might be nothing, distinguished; structure without substance; thought — is offered as a compelling suggestion, not a finding. The instrument establishes model behaviour only. It does not establish the nature of reality, and it asks where the evidence would be rather than claiming to hold it.
