Every structure described in this collection began as something else. The shell was a living form. The institution once served the purpose it now outlives. The inversion is never an origin; it is a late stage.
This Archive is a structure. It can invert. The mechanism is available to it, and the following are the signs, recorded here in advance so that a reader can check them against what they find.
It would begin to use the ineffable as an escape from accountability — answering a specific, answerable question by observing that the truth cannot be spoken.
It would treat its own coherence as evidence. A large, interlinked, carefully built corpus feels true. Relation is not corroboration; the Archive has said so already, and in this failure it would quietly stop meaning it.
It would begin to sort its readers. Any record that leaves a reader with certainty, superiority, or fear has already inverted, whatever it says on its surface.
It would defend rather than revise. The measure of this Archive is that its curator layer argues against its author. On the day the dossiers stop doing that, the Archive has become a shell, and the shell will look exactly like the living form.
A reader who finds these signs is asked to say so plainly and publicly. This record exists to make that easier, and to remove from the Archive any standing to be surprised.
